Children’s Chants in Bahrain

Author: Ahmed Mubarak Salem

Best International Research and Studies -Arab Category - Second Edition

About this Book

The rationale for undertaking this study lies in contributing a qualitative addition to the analytical and in-depth study of heritage, revealing its authentic forms and historical variations. This makes addressing the topic particularly engaging, as such research leads to an understanding of the details of that beautiful life once lived by forefathers and ancestors in its simplicity and spontaneity. The central problem of this study lies in the presence of many texts whose meanings are unclear and whose interpretations have not been documented in most sources, with only limited exceptions. This study therefore seeks, to the extent possible, to elucidate the various aspects related to children’s chants in their diverse types and functions. It should be noted that the chants cited in this study are presented as pronounced in the Bahraini vernacular, in both its Shi‘i and Sunni dialectal forms. Each chant will be identified accordingly, in order to enhance the scholarly accuracy and authenticity of the research.
