The Sharjah Institute for Heritage announced the launch of the fifth edition of the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award under the slogan (Cultural Heritage.. Human Communication), which aims to appreciate the efforts to preserve and document cultural heritage at the local, Arab and international levels. This came during a press conference held by the Institute in front of media representatives this morning at the headquarters of the Arab Heritage Center affiliated with the Institute, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award, Professor Aisha Al Hosan Al Shamsi, Director of the Arab Heritage Center and Secretary-General of the Award, members of the Board of Trustees, and a number of Institute employees. The launch ceremony included a video introducing the award and its objectives aimed at preserving cultural heritage, the standards governing it, and the achievements it has made since its establishment by Emiri Decree No. 19 of 2017 issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah - may God protect him. Appreciating the skilled efforts in the field of preserving cultural heritage elements, and enriching the honorable competition between those interested and working in scientific and field research. In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam stressed that the idea of ​​preserving cultural heritage as a memory for the individual and society has moved over the past decades from the realm of transient social need to institutional responsibility based on solid administrative specialization and systematic collective work, through launching successful applied and academic experiments and practices in this direction, noting that the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award organized by the Institute has included among its list of objectives the appreciation of skilled efforts in the field of preserving cultural heritage elements, and enriching honorable competition between those interested and working in scientific and field research in this field, leading to the appreciation of the best of these practices and experiments applied at the institutional and individual levels, which ultimately contributes to creating an environment that nurtures the sustainability of cultural heritage, ensuring its transmission to future generations, and introducing human heritage in its private and shared aspects, as it is considered a strong bridge for civilizational communication and cultural exchange, serving the Sharjah cultural project that engages the world with conscious culture. Al-Musallam expressed his confidence in organizing a new and distinctive version of the award that achieves the goals, meets the ambitions, attracts more pioneers of cultural heritage preservation and highlights the results of their inspiring practices and successful qualitative experiences in this regard, directing his thanks to the members of the work teams and permanent and temporary committees responsible for organizing, marketing and implementing promotional campaigns for the award, including the General Secretariat of the award and members of the jury of files and nomination requests, in addition to the support provided by government agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah for the lofty cultural goals carried by the message of the award.
