Overview

Heritage bearers are indigenous communities, groups, or individuals who play a significant role in the production, preservation, safeguarding, and re-creation of cultural heritage, thereby contributing to the enrichment of cultural diversity and human creativity. »Living Human Treasures« are narrators and bearers of oral literary masterpieces, traditional knowledge, and craftsmanship skills. They play a vital role in safeguarding humanity’s cultural heritage and ensuring its continuity and sustainability.

Terms and Conditions for Participation

  1. The narrator (Living Human Treasure) must be a heritage bearer, belonging to indigenous communities.
  2. The narrator must be a bearer of oral literary masterpieces, traditional knowledge, or craftsmanship skills.
  3. The narrator must play an active role in safeguarding humanity’s cultural heritage.
  4. The narrator (Living Human Treasure) must submit two letters of recommendation issued by relevant authorities or institutions specialized in the field of cultural heritage. The letter of recommendation is a mandatory requirement for the acceptance of the nomination.
  5. The narrator (Living Human Treasure) must submit the nominated work in the form of an audiovisual recording (video) with a minimum duration of ten minutes. The recording must include evidence demonstrating the essence of the narrator’s experience, their exceptionally high level of knowledge, expertise, and skills related to cultural heritage, as well as their ability to transmit this knowledge to younger generations, ensuring its continuity and sustainability.
  6. The narrator (Living Human Treasure) must not have previously received an award.
